I was at WDW Magic Kingdom, and the dream started out on Splash Mountain, which was themed like a cross between Splash and Pooh. I don't remember any specifics but most of the ride took place in a cave rather than like a show scene. At the end, the unload area was separate from the load by a few blocks, and you had to walk on a very narrow (like 2 foot) walkway that went right along the side of the car. It was totally unsafe and I said "Ugh this is why I like the Disneyland version better." After that, I was walking around the back of the park through Frontierland, except where the Rivers of America are, there was a giant lake. It turned out to be Bay Lake, and you could see Wildnerness Lodge, Bay Lake Tower and one other resort. The bay was wide there and surrounded by a beach. On the beach there was a dock that had a turnstile entrance, and a boat transported guests to the resorts. I also noticed that they were building a giant bridge conneting the Bay Lake Tower to Discovery Island where they were also building a huge treehouse-like glass and steel structure that I realized was the new museum. The bridge was just like a large version of the one that connects Bay Lake Tower to the Contemporary, suspended and serpentine.
Moving on, I crossed through Frontierland which was basically a wooden bridge walkway along the edge of the lake. Sort of like walking through scaffolding on a big city sidewalk, but Western-y. Finally I made it to Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland consisted of a giant indoor stage that was getting ready to host an awards show like the MTV VMAs, and Space Mountain, which was located more like where DL's is, but facing toward Main Street, with a long garden-like Epcot-like promenade leading to it. The ride was closed due to mechanical issues, but as I walked up the small crowd started entering, so I fell in line thinking it would be a short wait compared to the long lines it normally has, and I wanted to see the new version since it had just recently opened.
Entering the building, the queue was a long uphill walkway that ended in a mezzanine level in the center of the mountain. The carpet and walls were like a plush red velvet and the dome was decorated and somewhat architectural. There was no coaster visible. At the end of the mezzanine, I had to choose left for Alpha and right for Omega. I went right, and waited behind a line of people as we went down a speedramp to the platform level. I thought the line would be really long down there but they weren't using any of the queue so we went straight to the boarding area. The ride was an Omnimover that basically looked like miniature doom buggies, each seating one person, and facing sideways at all times. I boarded mine and one of the accounting managers boarded with me. From my doom buggy I said "Man I wish I was at Disneyland riding the REAL Space Mountain!" Then I realized that my feet were dragging on the floor, because the car was so small. The person in the car next to me pulled out a metal bar from the bottom that was used as a footrest, and I did the same.
We ascended into the dome, Spaceship-Earth style, as a narrator talked about something. The track was encased in a tube-like structure (kind of like the queue in real life). Eventually the narrator would mention that there was a drop coming, and we would go down a very gentle but noticeable drop and pick up a little speed. But it felt a lot like an enclosed simulator. This happened two or three times, before the ride finally came to a stop in the middle of one of the drops. The tube quickly filled up with people in their omnimover cars. Suddenly, a bunch of guys in Men in Black-like suits pushed through, holding signs that said something like "Impending Danger Ahead" or something to that effect. The wall at the end of the tube opened up, and people started gradually pouring through into large trays that each held five people. It was sort of like a giant inner tube, but not inflatable. People were filling in at random, and I ended up in a tube with one of my coworkers and three other people.
From there, we were in a large room that was all sloped down at about a 15 degree angle. We had to pilot our trays down the slope, almost like sledding, except it was completely dry. The walls of the channel we had to navigate were about one foot high and shaped in various rectilinear patterns. We "sledded" our way down to the bottom and were met with a giant cubicle farm, in a building that was themed to an office. The cubicles were arranged in such a way that it became a big maze, and we had to find our way out. I don't remember exactly what vehicles we were in at that point, and I may have been by myself. As I made my way out of the maze, I encountered several female cast members who were sitting in rolling office chairs and tried to chase me. They were wearing burgundy polo shirts and weren't menacing at all - in fact they were smiling and laughing, as though they realized how ridiculous their job was. They would roll toward me and I tried to get away, like it was a big game of seeing if I could beat them. I made my way out of the building toward the exit doors, which were positioned sort of similar to how the Star Tours gift shop is at DL. Then my alarm went off. |
